It’s an exciting time to be in North Beach–lots of new places opening in the Village.
Sunday was a chilly, foggy morning and the Village was still abuzz. North Beach denizens flocked to the Farmer’s Market near the library (Columbus/Mason).
Gotta love this time of the year when so many fantastic vegetables are in season. Romano beans (aka Italian flat beans or pole beans) are aplenty.
Some sauces call for a fresh pasta and some for a dried pasta. Most dried pasta is a durum wheat or semolina pasta. The best is from Italy.

The purple fingerling potatoes are for a salad and the heirloom, cuke and onion for another. Sweet white corn may end up on the Labor Day table.
